Most de-dusting systems that underperform were not badly manufactured; they were badly matched. A collector sized for the dust but fed by undersized ducting, or a fan chosen before the pressure drop was calculated, gives poor capture at every hood no matter how good the individual components are. Taking the whole system as one scope means the airflow, duct velocity, hood design and fan curve are worked out together, and the installation is balanced and proven before handover.
Dust and fume work is a project rather than a purchase: hoods, ducting, collector, fan and controls all have to be sized together or the system underperforms from the first day.
