Staged inline filters that strip particulate, aerosol oil and oil vapour out of compressed air, each stage rated for what the one before it leaves behind.
Filtration works in stages because no single element removes everything efficiently. A particulate filter takes out rust and pipe scale, a coalescing filter joins fine oil aerosol into droplets that drain away, and an activated carbon stage removes the oil vapour and smell that survive both. Fitting the right sequence protects the dryer, the instruments and the product; fitting the wrong one just creates a pressure drop you pay for in compressor power.
