Oxygen under pressure will ignite oil, which is why an oxygen compressor is a different machine rather than an ordinary one with a label changed. Every wetted part is degreased and cleaned for oxygen service, the seals and valves are oxygen-rated, and there is no lubricant in the compression chamber at all. Hospitals filling medical cylinders, steel fabricators supplying cutting oxygen and aquaculture operations all work to the same requirement.
Gas compression is specified, not picked off a shelf: the gas, the inlet pressure, the discharge pressure and the duty cycle decide the machine.
