There is one impeller, it is mounted directly on the motor shaft, and nothing inside touches anything else. That is why these units run for years with no maintenance beyond keeping the inlet filter clean, and why they are the default where clean air has to be moved continuously - fish farm aeration, vacuum hold-down on printing and packaging machines, and light pneumatic conveying. The same unit works as a blower or a vacuum source depending on which port you connect.
Blowers are bought on flow and pressure and then paid for in electricity for the next ten years, so it is worth sizing them properly the first time.
